My Design Style Is a Little Bit Funky

I NEVER take those ‘just for fun’ online surveys.

Especially not the ones on Facebook that ‘just for fun’ take all your data and your friends’ data and sell it.

Thanks Facebook! Real swell of you.

Anyway. I digress.

I’m a loyal reader of The Lettered Cottage blog. I love Layla’s cottage style. Last week she took a HomeGoods ‘define your style’ quiz and shared her results.

I got sucked into the hype folks.

I was ripe for the quiz taking because I’m having a style “crisis.”

OH NO! The horror! Say it isn’t so!

Yep. Furniture I bought pre-kids and 6 homes ago is finally not working for me any longer, but I’m not sure what to replace it with that won’t give me heart palpitations over the price.

So, I took the quiz.

All you have to do is pick 5 pictures that you like. I didn’t give the site any info about me. Although, they probably recorded the results.

I didn’t log into anything. I just picked 5 pictures.

Want to know what I am?

New Country is not surprising.

But a touch of Urban Funk? I like it. I like it A LOT!

According to HomeGoods, this is who “New Country” is:

“New Country understands the value of slowing down, enjoying the sunsets, bringing the outside in, and feeling a real sense of relaxation in her space. She is laidback, but her style is still intentional and beautiful in its rustic elegance.”

I can go along with that.

What about Urban Funk?

“Urban Funk has undeniable funk and soul. She’s at home in a place where industrial meets comfort, where over-the-top meets laid-back chill, and where retro art meets graphic simplicity. And she does all this in a way that feels totally effortless.”

The Urban Funk came about because I selected a couple of images that had typography in them.

I doubt this quiz is really going to help me through this style “crisis.”

It’s definitely not going to make me feel better about dropping a wad of dough on a new sofa.

But it was fun!

I did find value in slowing down to take the quiz from the laid-back comfort of my bed while not watching the sunset. I was happy I could do this in a way that felt totally effortless to my over-the-top meets laid-back chill self.

If you want to take the quiz, here’s the link. I’d love to hear your results!
