I haven’t done a “what’s happening” post for the family in awhile, so if you’re not one of the 1.7 people out there who cares about my iPhone photos…come back next time!
Last week school was cancelled twice. I’m not exactly sure why other than the threat of inclement weather. Funny thing, though. We had no inclement weather those days. Dry and cold, no moisture surrounding the school hours.
Tuesday of this week we woke up to snow! Yes, folks everywhere but here, I realize a dusting of snow is a joke, but in Georgia even a small amount can cause a big problem.
Oh, and the kids had school that day. Hmm. I generally consider myself to be an intelligent, well-educated person. I’m just not following the logic of the school district on that one.
This little guy thought it was pretty cool though. He’s squinting because snow flakes are falling on his nose. He’s been busy pushing snow around our deck with all of his tractor toys.
A few weeks ago we spent the weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We love that town! We were sitting in a local ice cream shop called Clumpie’s and I casually mentioned to my husband, who was trying the sweet potato casserole ice cream, that we should get an ice cream maker. Guess what showed up a few days later? And I usually think he doesn’t listen to me! 🙂
So far we’ve made vanilla, blueberry and Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint ice cream. We didn’t have peppermint extract when we made the Thin Mint ice cream, but we did have peppermint schnapps. 😉
This guy and I celebrated 16 years of holy matrimony earlier this month. Life is full of adventure and there’s no one I’d rather share it with than him. I’ve been reminded recently that what we have is special. It’s more than love. It’s a partnership. It’s give and take. It’s communication and respect. It’s forgiveness and laughter. It’s a strong foundation that we build on day by day. It’s a legacy we will pass on to our children. For all of that and more, I am immensely thankful.
Speaking of children, I signed my youngest up for t-ball. He starts in the middle of March. This will be his first entry into the realm of team sports. I have no idea what to expect. No. idea.
I did learn that baseball gear is expensive. So, I sure hope he likes it.
And because he is growing up way too fast, I cherish the times when he will crawl up on my lap and fall asleep. My daughter never did this, so it’s extra special to have these moments. I just soak him all in. Those eye lashes, the thumb and blanket, his little ow-ies from whatever adventure he was on that day. I’m melting, people, melting.
That, my friends, is a quick glimpse at the happy, mushy highlights from the past few weeks. With all of this winter weather, I think I am definitely ready for Hot-lanta to reappear again.
