Hello! I’m glad to welcome you here for this week’s Happy List.
This week on the blog I shared the five categories of kitchen art and the one thing I never mentioned to my kids about refrigerators.
I also published a snarky, but helpful guide to wallpaper removal. One of you asked for this blog post minus the snarky part and I’d like to think I delivered on that request. I think the moral of this story is be careful what you ask of me!
Here’s your weekly reminder: if you want to see us take forever to update a bathroom or see Handy Husband working his DIY magic, then you need to follow along with our stories on social media. We are on Facebook and Instagram and I would love, LOVE, LOVE IT if you’d share my page with a friend. Thank you!
Here’s the Happy List!
MAP PAPER MOTHS
Claire at Pillow Box Blue is so creative! She loves to repurpose maps and denim. Her newest creation of making moth art out of old maps is so clever! Didn’t she do a great job?

MADE ME LAUGH
Let’s not analyze what it says about me that I follow the Men’s Humor account on Instagram.
This meme they shared made me spit out my coffee because it is SO TRUE. Except I never win anything when I’m done going through the motion.

SUN HAT SPRING WREATH
I can see a few of you putting your own spin on this Sun Hat Spring Wreath by Sydney at Sydney and Co.!

DAYS OF THE WEEK
The below chart shows what is considered the first day of the week by country. I don’t know why I find this interesting. Perhaps it is because when I say the days of the week I start with Sunday because that’s what the U.S. calendar says. However, when I think of the week starting, I think Monday.
I had no clue that in parts of Africa the first day of the week is Saturday!

FRIDGE IN THE PENINSULA
The reason I’m digging this fridge at the end of the peninsula thing is that it breaks conventional wisdom in a creative way to solve a design problem.
You have to go look at the back of the fridge to see why it all make sense for the space. Check it out in this Domino article.

SUMMER DRESS
I bought this $25 Daily Ritual summer dress in navy and I’m ready to wear it already. I just need the weather to cooperate. Stop snowing in April!
I figured I could dress it up with a belt or wear it as a swimsuit cover.
LAMPSHADE FROM A TREE STUMP
It’s been at least a week since I’ve shared a wood lathe video. You know I’m a fan!
I’m not sure I want a wood lamp shade, but I like the idea of making one. A lot.
Handy Husband said it sounded like a fire hazard. Party pooper.

ON SELF LOVE
LOVE AFTER LOVE
by Derek Walcott
The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.
Be good to yourself and others this weekend.
I’ll see you back here on Monday!
