Happy List: #361

fall front porch view from a colonial farmhouse on the happy list
Hello! Welcome to the Happy List. I’m glad you’re here.
This week on the blog was all about Halloween prep. I shared our Halloween mantel complete with a cute BOO sign I painted. I also wrote about the Halloween shirts that would be fun to wear as a group costume. If you do dress up, send me a picture so I can celebrate how awesome you look!
As always, thank you for being here today. It makes my day to share things with you that interested me, made me smile, or made me think this week. I hope it makes your day too. If you want to connect, and I hope you do, you can always comment on this blog post or email me here. You can also reach out on Instagram or Facebook.

Now, let’s get to the Happy List!

COZY VIBES

I like the cozy vibes of this bedroom in a cottage in the Cotswolds. But you’ll be the most surprised to learn this cottage was built in 1489! That was not a typo. And I thought my house was old.

See more photos of this cottage here.

HALLOWEEN CRAFT

I thought this Halloween spin on peg dolls by Lil Blue Boo was so cute.

You can get all the details, especially for the accessories here.

In the past, my kids painted peg dolls of our family and we used them as place cards for Thanksgiving dinner. This is me in peg doll form. Ha!

You can get 56 peg dolls for around $10 here.

DIY BURLED WOOD FRAME

Jennifer from City Farmhouse has made a white IKEA picture frame look like burled wood. WHAT?!?! Such a great transformation.

Get the step-by-step tutorial here. You probably have the craft paint in your stash to get started on this today.

CUTE AND TRUE

This little kid t-shirt I spotted on Etsy made me laugh because it was so true for my kids when they were little.

DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’

Did you see this school janitor sing Don’t Stop Believin’ on America’s Got Talent? He won one million dollars.

The jaws dropped when he started singing. It gave me chills. You can fast forward to the 3:00 mark if you don’t want to hear the back story.

If the video doesn’t load, watch it on YouTube here.

We’re all guilty of it, but this is a good reminder to not judge people by outward appearances. They just might have a talent that will blow you away.

In fact, they probably do.

FAIRISLE SWEATSHIRT

A sweatshirt but class it up with an embroidered Fairisle style? Yes, please.

What are the chances that I could embroider something like this myself? Keeping the half-circle even would be my problem.

Have you been on the Boden site lately? All the shirts are so pretty, colorful, and feminine. I don’t think there was one that I wouldn’t wear.

DIY LEAF TRINKET DISH

This trinket dish made by Dainty Dress Diaries is probably the classiest use of air clay that I’ve seen in a good long while.

See how she got the shape and the color here.

PUMPKIN PIE SMOOTHIE

This pumpkin pie smoothie from A Beautiful Mess looks tasty and is healthier than it sounds, especially if you skip the whipped cream part. But why would you do that to yourself?

The base of the smoothie is frozen bananas. I put bananas that no one wants to eat in the freezer whole (peel still on) and then I have frozen bananas for smoothies. I’m too lazy to freeze them any other way.

POETRY MOMENT

At last… Another’s heartbeat by Marcellus Khaliifah Williams

the silhouettes of their bond visible still at the last glow of the sun
they experience each other and the life of the night as it begins to stir
standing there in silence holding hands
no rush to go back inside
there is so much beauty and comfort in being
in love and just being…
-amidst sounds of buzzing
chirps
crickets
the pleasant but irregular blowing of the wind
fireflies dancing in step with the light of the moon
how strange it is to become aware of another’s heartbeat but forget one’s own-
finally love.

Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
