Woohoo! We made it to Friday, folks.
I had THE BEST weekend with my friend. Only three things broke in the house while she was here. So that was a win.
What were the items? Our boiler (the was an expensive repair), our granite counter (I’m trying to baby along a crack until we remodel), and the toilet (I fixed that all by myself after a trip to Home Depot).
Moral of this story, come visit us. It is great. Hospitality as its finest. Stuff breaks, but we promise to fix it. If we can’t, we’ll serve you drinks. Shoot, even if we can fix it we’ll serve you drinks. You’ll probably need it.
Now, let’s talk blog business. I posted about our living room windows that are decal free on Monday. On Wednesday I shared our tips for visiting Gettysburg. I need to go back there now because so many people direct messaged me saying they had taken a horseback tour of Gettysburg, which sounds amazing.
Also, if you missed it, I saved some stories on Instagram this week of the wallpaper I removed from my daughter’s room. It would be under the tag “kid spaces.” I almost bought a lottery ticket I was feeling so lucky after that endeavor. If you missed it, please check it out!
She asked me how soon new paint can go on the walls because the orange paint hiding underneath the wallpaper “looks like a slaughterhouse.”
On that note, here’s the Happy List!
ART FROM BIRD PATTERNS
This is so neat.
A photographer named Xavi Bou captures the patterns of birds in flight and it is amazing. He started out capturing single birds, but tries to capture the patterns of flocks of birds now. You have to go look at his pictures. Talk about a WOW!

I’m constantly thinking about our kitchen and how we might change it in the next 5 years. The way the base cabinets in this photo bump back to allow room for a breakfast table is neat.
RECYCLABLE TOOTHPASTE TUBE
I’ve mentioned before that I am HOOKED on the Hello brand of toothpaste. Seriously hooked. My teeth feel so clean when using it.
However, I might be persuaded to try this new type of Colgate since it comes in a recyclable toothpaste tub. Although, it is only a matter of time before they all become recyclable, right?
Now we just need to figure out how to actually use all of our recycled products since China doesn’t want them anymore. Right?!

STAIRS WITH A VIEW
Sweet heavens. I would definitely sit on that chair and look out that window if those were my stairs.

MAKING ART CAN HELP YOUR BRAIN
If you want to know what happens to your brain when making art, read this article.
Besides possibly reducing stress, the brain’s reward center gets involved! I KNEW IT!
IKEA NIGHTSTAND HACK
I love pretty much anything that Daniel at Manhattan Nest comes up with and his IKEA nightstand hack is pretty brilliant.
First of all, he didn’t use a nightstand to create a nightstand and the place he sourced his marble top SHOCKED me. I might have to steal his idea. You can read what he used here.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
“You won’t understand what I mean now, but someday you will: the only trick of friendship, I think, is to find people who are better than you are — not smarter, not cooler, but kinder, and more generous, and more forgiving — and then to appreciate them for what they can teach you, and to try to listen to them when they tell you something about yourself, no matter how bad — or good — it might be, and to trust them, which is the hardest thing of all. But the best, as well.” — Hanya Yanagihara, from the award-winning book A Little Life
That’s it for today’s Happy List!
Now, if you all could cross your fingers that nothing breaks in my house this weekend, I would appreciate it. I know it might hamper getting anything done, but weekends are for relaxing anyway, right? Thank you. You’re THE BEST!
