Happy List: #146
Hello, friends!
It’s been a week. Today being a Friday the 13th seems appropriate! Â We received a fresh blanket of snow this week and I had a child home sick for three days with walking pneumonia. Everyone else seems to be teetering on the edge of the germ abyss. And to think, it’s not even technically winter yet!
This week on the blog was all about our Christmas tree. I shared our piano pedal tree topper on Monday and our piano hammer and piano wire ornaments on Wednesday. Thank you for all your kind comments about my creative repurposing of piano parts.
Here’s the Happy List!
PAPER CHAIN
This free printable for a paper chain from On Sutton Place is so pretty.
I thought each piece of the chain would make a pretty napkin ring.

D.C.
DC City Girl is my new favorite Instagram account. If you love home exteriors, you’ll love her photographs taken from mainly the Washington D.C. area.
SWEETEST PROPOSAL

WINDSOR CASTLE CHRISTMAS DECORATING
Did you see the photos of the Christmas tree being decorated at Windsor Castle?
Gorgeous, right?

That was my third thought.
My first thought was “I’ve never decorated a Christmas tree while wearing a skirt.”
I’ve also never, to my recollection, climbed a ladder while wearing a skirt.
My second thought was “where are all the boxes of stuff?”
These photos had to have been staged.
Still beautiful though.
MOTHERS, LET YOUR DAUGHTERS GROW UP TO BE TRAVELERS
This article by Barbara Winard about encouraging your daughters to grow up to be travelers was really good. She does an excellent job explaining how important it is without diminishing the fact that a mom is still going to worry.
The above photo (our backs are turned) was taken on our trip to London.
PUNCH NEEDLE EMBROIDERY
I need to try punch needle embroidery! This tutorial is by A Beautiful Mess.

Will someone make this for me?

Thanks for reading the Happy List!
I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Hi Annisa:
Just saw your comment about the article I wrote about inspiring my daughter to become a traveler, and I was so pleased that you liked it. I continue to be thrilled that she is comfortable in the world, and I continue to worry (but would never tell her to stop—although I do give her speeches about keeping track of her wallet 🙂

We ALL need that speech! LOL! But seriously – fear of losing my passport and phone while abroad or anywhere, really, is real.
