Happy List: #249

Hello! Welcome to this week’s Happy List!

I hope you had a delightful St. Patrick’s Day! We ate green pasta with pesto, green beans, green jello, and had green punch for dinner that night. Sense a theme? Ha!

This week on the blog I shared our wood deacon’s bench makeover. I also shared some common folklore from Ireland’s past to get us in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day.

When I’m not hanging out on the blog I usually find time to share a project or idea on Instagram and Facebook stories. I’d love it if you joined me there and please tell your friends too! That really helps this blog keep going!

Here’s the Happy List!

EMBROIDERY HOOP TERRARIUM

This is a fun idea from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia for a spring floral arrangement using real or faux succulents.

You could tuck some faux Easter eggs in with your faux succulents too.

DID YOU KNOW?

I learned this week from NeuroScience News that a person can be dyslexic in one language, but not another.

In fact, it seems that languages that are symbol-based have fewer instances of dyslexia.

Read more about it here.

RED VELVET CINNAMON ROLLS

I can get behind this idea of Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls. The recipe can be found over at Lone Fox.

BUNNY CAKE STAND

I saw someone use this cake stand to make an Easter basket-shaped cake and thought it was the cutest thing ever.

Went looking for it and was shocked that it was an Amazon find.

The only way to make this cake stand cuter is to put a cake on it!

TICKET MEMORY BOX

I really love this idea from Erica at Dwell Beautiful for using a shadow box to store ticket stubs! She recently gave her ticket box a makeover, but I like it both ways.

The cool thing about this idea is that not only is it a way to store memories of fun experiences, but it’s also an ever-changing art display.

Read the tutorial here.

WHAT SOUND DOES A FOX MAKE?

If you want to hear a fox giggle, go check out the videos on My Modern Met’s website featuring the fox rescue organization, Save a Fox.

It will brighten your day. You can also find ways to help this organization.

You’re smiling right now seeing that fox grin, aren’t you? Me too.

IKEA MEATBALLS

We were discussing Ikea with friends the other day, so of course, that meant I had to read The Hustle article titled “How Ikea Tricks You Into Buying More Stuff.”

I don’t think any of it was a surprise, but I did like thinking about the visual of this graphic with a billion meatballs stacked end-to-end.

P.S. I did try and fact-check that 1 billion number. The internet seems to agree on the 1 billion meatball number dating back to 2018. I couldn’t figure out what the current meatball count is.

I do know I’ve never tried one of their meatballs. Are you shocked?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT – SERVICE OVER EGO

“I do not want my pictures in your offices: the President is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Hang your kids’ photos instead, and look at them each time you are making a decision.” – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at his inauguration in 2019

Thank you for being here today.

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
