Hello! Welcome to the last Happy List of April! Time flies, my friends.
This week on the blog we celebrated Handy Husband’s birthday and we discussed our junk drawer situation or lack thereof. So, a typical week on the blog. Ha!

I like how West Elm styled this bathroom so that the mirrors overhang the wall tile by a little bit.

GROW COPPER ACETATE CRYSTALS
I did not know you could grow copper acetate crystals from scrap copper and vinegar.
Frankly, I did not know copper acetate crystals were a thing, but now I am intrigued! They look like obsidian when they are done growing.
This tutorial by Chase at Crystalverse was very detailed and would be a great months-long science project for kids.

DEL MONTE NOTE
Have you heard of the Del Monte Note? It was printed with a Del Monte banana sticker attached to it.
Accident or deliberate? No one knows, but it made it into circulation and sold in 2021 for $396,000.

TALK TO A PHYSICIST
If you have a burning physics theory you want to discuss with an actual physicist, there’s a hotline for that!
Sabine Hossenfelder is a theoretical physicist and research fellow at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies. She details in an interesting article for Aeon the types of questions she gets on the calls and how lack of math skills and literal interpretation of over-simplified news reports plays an important role in the development of bad scientific theories.
ICE CREAM CHARCUTERIE BOARD
This ice cream sundae charcuterie board idea from Heather Krout is a fun idea for a birthday party.
I may have to borrow this idea for my kids’ upcoming birthdays.

Last year we did a cookie and candy charcuterie board for my son’s birthday since candy was the dessert he actually wanted. He was delighted!
SPRING QUINOA SALAD
To balance things out, here’s a salad recipe from Pinch of Yum that I want to try soon.
This Spring Quinoa Salad has bacon and feta in it along with fresh herbs. YUM!

If you haven’t listened to Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow’s recent speech, it is well worth 4 minutes of your time.
Here’s an excerpt:
“So who am I? I am a straight, white, Christian, married, suburban mom who knows that the very notion that learning about slavery or redlining or systemic racism means that children are being taught to feel bad or hate themselves because they are white is absolute nonsense.
No child alive today is responsible for slavery. No one in this room is responsible for slavery. But each and every single one of us bears responsibility for writing the next chapter of history. We decide what happens next, and how WE respond to history and the world around us.
People who are different are not the reason our roads are in bad shape, or healthcare costs are too high, or teachers are leaving the profession.
We cannot let hateful people tell you otherwise to scapegoat and deflect from the fact that they’re not doing anything to fix the real issues that impact people’s lives.”
