6 Flower Monogram Embroidery Ideas

To stitch or not to stitch? Earlier this year I was really into flower embroidery and even tried my hand at flower monogram embroidery. I had sew much fun.

Everyone asks me, “What are you going to do with your creations?”

All 31 of them. And I still have more hoops to use.

Told you I was into it. Ha!

Besides simply enjoying my creations, I could hang them, gift them, sell them, use them as Christmas ornaments, turn them into giant necklaces, make a keychain I’d never lose because it was so big, or maybe leave them around town for random strangers to be utterly confused when they find one. Talk about possibilities!

However, the question did make me wonder how other people with less wacky imaginations use flower monogram embroidery in their everyday, fabulous lives.

Here are 6 flower monogram embroidery ideas to get your stitching fingers warmed up. These are all actual embroidered items you can purchase finished as opposed to kits or patterns you have to sew yourself. If you want patterns, Etsy is a great resource.

Flower Monogram Wreath Sash | Etsy

I did not know wreath sashes were a thing but now I’m intrigued! You could have a wreath sash for each season.

Floral Embroidered Letter | Etsy

This idea is similar to what I created and even uses the same hoops or frames!

As opposed to the way I stitched my flower monogram embroidery where the flowers are an embellishment, this artist used the flowers to create the monogram shape. It’s beautiful.

I’d hang this on a gallery wall or maybe on the back of a shelf or bookcase.

This cross-stitched necklace stopped me in my scroll. It has a romantic quality to it.

I would definitely wear this!

Flower Monogram Embroidery Sweatshirt | Etsy

Another item I would for sure wear is a flower monogram embroidery sweatshirt.

I know it would be a branding issue, but I’d love a college sweatshirt where the letters were done in this style. College spirit but make it feminine.

I’m cheating on this one, but I’m sharing it because it gave me an idea to stitch myself.

Imagine this hat with its monogram but add stitched flower details to it like I did on my embroidery examples. It would be so cute!

Speaking of cute, if I had a little girl, I’d be snatching one of these hair bows up faster than you can say “Do not cut paper with my fabric scissors!”

How do you feel about repurposing?

The way I finished the back of my flower monogram embroidery utilizes both – a clean look and repurposing. Win, win.

How’d I do it? With old board games!

I positioned my embroidery in the hoop where I wanted it and then cut the excess fabric away using a craft knife so that it wasn’t sticking out of the back of the hoop. Then I cut up the cardboard game board from old board games into circles that fit inside my hoop. You want it to be snug enough that it doesn’t fall out when you turn the embroidery over. If you need to remove the circle, you can press gently on the front of your embroidery and it should pop out.

You can cut up board games using heavy-duty scissors or a craft knife. A craft knife is more precise, but it takes forever.

The way board games are made with strong cardboard and a finished back makes it an ideal medium to finish the back of your embroidery. Let me know if you try it!
