Happy List: #329

Hi! Welcome to this week’s Happy List. I’m absolutely delighted that you are here and hope this will be just one of many bright spots in your week.

This week on the blog I shared a silly and fun craft, a Valentine’s Day Terracotta Gnome. I also shared a gross to gorgeous pantry cabinet transformation. By the way, I live in fear of misspelling pantry. Take out the “r” and that’s a whole different situation.

If you’re new here, I’ll let you in on a not-so-secret secret. We like talking to you! If you want to connect with us or ask a question, you can always comment on this blog post or send an email here. You can also reach out on Instagram or Facebook.

Enjoy this week’s Happy List!

ARCHED

How pretty is this brick arch? I’d love to walk through that every day to get home.

This home is in Seattle and has two suites that are rentable if you’re visiting the Pacific Northwest. Check it out here. Spoiler: it’s gorgeous.

SO FUN

I am glad to be out of the classroom Valentine’s Day card stage of parenting but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate cute Valentine’s Day cards!

These Etch-A-Sketch Valentine’s Day cards from Etsy are SO FUN and stinking cute. They are nostalgic and interactive enough that I think you could send them to friends or grandkids too.

See how they work and order here.

BIGGER?

I’m not sure what to make of this yet, but the U.S. State Department announced that the U.S. has grown in a size equaling two Californias by defining and mapping how far under the sea its continental shelf expands.

APRIL FOOL’S?

I thought this was an April Fool’s prank but it seems real. Burt’s Bees has partnered with Hidden Valley Ranch to make ranch-flavored lip balm. Yes, you read that correctly. They have also made crunchy celery, fresh carrot, and buffalo sauce flavors.

I am BEGGING one of you to please try these lip balms and let me know what happens. Do they make you hungry? Is it gross? Check it out here.

P.S. I am a fan of Burt’s Bees. I like to wear their tinted lip balm instead of lipstick. I have all the colors but “daisy” and “red dahlia” are my favorite.

WINDOW SEAT

What caught my eye about this window seat and storage is how it does not try to work with the angle of the wall. It’s doing its own thing! I think it works because of how the wood wraps all the way around the window.

You’ll also love this home’s pantry and kitchen. It’s gorgeous. Check it out here.

REPURPOSED ICE CUBE TRAY

How clever is this? Use an ice cube tray to organize earrings. Ice cube trays are way cheaper than actual earring organizers. You might even have an ice cube tray that you aren’t using and could repurpose for free!

See more earring organization ideas over at The Spruce.

P.S. I use an old silverware tray to organize my makeup. Works like a charm.

COOKIE MONSTER’S COOKIES

I learned this week that Cookie Monster’s cookies are mainly edible and are made from pancake mix, Grape-Nuts, puffed rice, instant coffee, and water. They are purposefully designed to explode into pieces when Cookie Monster gobbles them down without getting caught in his fur. Adam Sandler was the last human to eat the cookies in 2009.

Learn more in this article including who is making the cookies and how many they use per episode.

MONSTER COOKIES

It’s been decided. I need to make Monster cookies for the kids this week. Not the kind Cookie Monster eats, but these Thick and Chewy Monster Cookies from Tastes Better From Scratch.

Just need to run out for M&Ms.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them — words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they’re brought out. But it’s more than that, isn’t it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you’ve said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That’s the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear.”
Stephen King

Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
