12 Stone Gift and Craft Ideas

corner of a house and part of a red barn with daffodils in front of it painted on a small flat stone and mounted on a wood placard and hung above a basket on a wall.

Art takes on many forms, and it will not surprise you, given our recent stone masonry work, that we find stones and rocks make for fantastic gift and craft ideas.

Paintings, jewelry, and home decor – these are just the tip of the boulder when it comes to all of the artful stone gift and craft ideas that now exist. People are so creative, and I’m here for it.

If you’re looking for a gift or for your next craft, check out these 12 stone and gift craft ideas.

Custom Painted Rock | Etsy

I can think of a few pictures I’d love to see translated into paint on stone.

Memory Rocks | A Pretty Happy Home

I think of this as a long-term gift to myself! I collect rocks while vacationing or during special family outings. On each rock, I write the location and date of the event. I keep the memory rocks (and a few memory shells) in a bowl on our coffee table.

It’s fun to look through the collection and have each rock trigger a special memory about a Father’s Day hike, a beach day, etc.

Agate Garland | Etsy

Agates are the prettiest. How neat is this garland?

Stone Paperweight | A Pretty Happy Home

Wrapped rocks with cord or thread are so happy. I made my own version with leather and a found rock.

This one is heavy enough that it can also function as a doorstop.

House Portrait On River Rock | Etsy

A while back, a friend painted our house on a small stone and gifted it to us. The picture at the top of this post is that custom portrait. Her gift still feels so thoughtful, special, and personal on every level imaginable. I mounted the painted stone on a wooden placard and will cherish it forever.

My friend doesn’t take commissions (yet), but I did find one Etsy shop that specifically mentions house portraits on rocks. This would be neat for a housewarming gift.

Sea Glass Holder | Etsy

Does anyone collect sea glass or shells? These wood shells are the neatest holders for a collection.

Natural Stone Soap Dish | A Pretty Happy Home

No crafting needed for this one, just a good eye. Years ago, while playing in the creek with my kids, we found a rock that was the perfect shape and size to hold a bar of soap.

It could have been a ring dish, too. Nature does it best!

Custom Pet Portrait on Stone | Etsy

Several Etsy shops offer custom pet portraits, so it’s just a matter of finding one that fits your style the best. They all looked super cute to me, so good luck trying to narrow it down!

Pebble Bird Art | Etsy

This pebble art had me once again marveling at how talented humans are.

Pebble Robin on Drift Wood Cross | Etsy

A driftwood cross with the bird would hold special meaning for some. This comes in a frame.

Lake Michigan Stone Cairn Necklace | Etsy

I knew gems could be jewelry, but now I know pebbles make pretty neat necklaces, too!

Custom Wedding Stone Portrait | Etsy

I love how it is immediately apparent that this is a wedding portrait. I don’t know that I could look at a bunch of random pebbles and think, “Oh, this would be a great veil.” And the collar on the dog!
