Pallet Flag Tip

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays – especially when I can celebrate with a good ol’ fashioned small town parade.

Nothing screams “proud to be an American” like your local insurance agent throwing hard candy at little kids who run out into the street to grab these free treats.

Seriously can’t wait.

Now’s the time to get into the patriotic spirit with a little Americana decor, which brings me to this burning question. Is the pallet flag trend over? I don’t keep up with these things. I’m all about displaying what you love for however long you love it. It eventually all comes back into style anyway.

I’m visiting the Junk Whisperer (aka my stepmom) and she has a pallet flag hanging on one side of her potting shed. She painted it herself one day after this particular rectangular pallet begged her to become a flag. Pallets talk, folks. You heard it here.

Like all things the Junk Whisperer touches, it turned out awesome.

She has a way with details and that’s what caught my eye about this particular pallet flag.

Did you notice anything about those stars?

To keep everything uniform and to avoid the hassle of stencils, she used wood stars from the craft store (similar) for the star portion of the flag. This would not have occurred to me if I was going to make my own pallet flag. I’ve only ever noticed stencil-painted stars on pallet flags.

If your flag is going to be outside, then definitely nail the stars onto the pallet. She tried wood glue first, but they didn’t stay affixed after being out in the elements.

If your perfectionist streak runs a little deep, then I’d definitely suggest going this route if you want to make your own pallet flag. Happy early 4th of July!

Thanks for visiting! Here’s some more inspiration…
