Happy List: #281

Hello! Welcome to this week’s Happy List. I’m delighted you are here.

This week on the blog I shared 10 gift ideas under $25 for all the random people in your life. I also shared the process of how to create Mini Silhouette Christmas Ornaments. These ornaments ended up looking way fancier (aka professional) than I initially imagined they would. I’m loving them on my tree.

If you like what you read here and want to give us a present for the holidays, we would not turn down a comment, a like, or a share on either the blog or our social media accounts on Instagram or Facebook. Helping new people find us is a huge help! This goes for any creator that you follow online or on social media. It doesn’t cost you a dime and your support in this way helps bloggers and creators like us to keep blogging and creating. Thank you!

Now, here’s the Happy List!

CUTEST CHRISTMAS CRAFT

Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick has the cutest Christmas craft that I’ve seen all year. It’s not too late to make this one!

There’s a hint in the below picture, but I’m not going to spoil it because how this gnome is made is brilliant. Please go check it out here. You’ll also love how she’s using it as a gift. It’s one of those things that we’d all probably appreciate receiving.

I’ve read Sarah’s blog for a long time and if you’re a fan of having the look you want for less money, she’s one to follow!

INTERESTING FACT

As of last year, an estimated 37 percent of the world’s population – or 2.9 billion people – have still never used the Internet.

You, clearly, are not one of these people.

Is your mind blown right now imagining never using the Internet? I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it and I grew up in a time when the Internet was still new.

This information comes from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations’ specialized agency for information and communication technologies. You can read more about their report on world internet usage here.

LADDER TREE

I love seeing what you the readers are creating in your homes!

A person I affectionately refer to as The Junk Whisperer sent me this picture of their old ladder decorated for Christmas. Isn’t it so well done? The ornaments really make it pop!

FORDE ABBEY

Take 5 minutes today to read the story about the 900-year-old Forde Abbey which has been continuously inhabited since the 12th century. The current family living there is 4th generation and it’s so interesting how they balance keeping it a family home and paying for the upkeep.

Plus, the Christmas decorations are to die for.

Read the story and see the photos in this House and Garden UK article.

MANICURE KIT

In October I was fed up with no one putting the nail clippers back in the correct spot, so I bought a $10 manicure kit where everything was contained in one pretty case. It’s been amazing.

The funny thing is that earlier this week Handy Husband was clipping his nails and he said with genuine bafflement, “Besides the clippers, I just don’t know what any of this stuff is for.”

He’s never been to a nail salon and it shows. Ha!

I might have shared this manicure kit before and clearly, I love it if I’m sharing it again. It would make a great stocking stuffer.

DIY AGED IRON ORNAMENTS

These are the prettiest painted ornaments from Jenna Sue Design.

Can you guess how she got the texture on the ornaments? Check out the tutorial here.

Go check out the rest of the photos here. There’s a fun bed surprise. She listed all of her room sources too!

POETRY MOMENT

Getting Into Bed On a December Night by Ellen Bass

When I slip beneath the quilt and fold into
your warmth, I think we are like the pages
of a love letter written thirty years ago
that some aging god still reads each day
and then tucks back into its envelope.

Read more poems on Ellen’s website.

Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
