Happy List: #320

Hello! Welcome to this week’s Happy List! I’m delighted you are here.

This week on the blog I shared an easy-to-make wheat wreath. If you’ve always wanted to make something with those cool, gold floral hoops, this is your project!

I also shared the antique music stand that I found for our music room. I’ve idly been looking for a music stand for years and this ended up being THE one. I love it.

Thank you for reading this blog. It makes our day – both mine and Handy Husband’s. If you want to share the blog or an idea we post on social media, we would be very grateful. We also love talking to you. If you want to connect with us or ask a question, you can always comment on this blog post or send an email here. You can also reach out on Instagram or Facebook.

Here’s the Happy List!

SWEDEN, ANYONE?

Look at this gorgeous home in Sweden. The roofline. The balcony. The view.

Go see the inside pictures of this home over at My Scandinavian Home.

WOOD TURKEY

Check out this wood turkey I spotted on Etsy. Isn’t it amazing? The craftmanship…wow.

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving and want festive decor or need a host gift, this wood turkey would be perfect.

BIRD EXPLORER

Speaking of birds, stop everything you’re doing and go check out the Audobon Explorer page. They have tracking on individual birds and you can watch their migration paths.  It’s so cool!

Maybe there are birds always at your house in the spring and you wonder where they go. Well, now you don’t have to wonder. You’ll know what month they are in which state or country.

ART IN PARIS

Visiting Paris soon? If so, you can see this art installation of vintage chairs outside the Liaigre architecture firm in person. It was created by Tadashi Kawamata and is meant to question how we interact with our built environments. Learn more about the installation here.

AIR BAKE CLAY GARLAND

I love everything that Michael at Inspired by Charm creates. This clay ghost garland is no exception. It’s five days before Halloween, so I realize it might be a little late to jump on this craft.

But wait! Just imagine making the garland with angels instead of ghosts. Can you picture it? How amazing would that be for Christmas? Go get Michael’s directions here and start making something awesome!

MINE WATER PROJECT

In Britain, they are testing filling old coal mines with water and using the natural heat that occurs to the water underground to heat at least 350 high-rise buildings and more in the town of Gateshead. The mine water acts as a central heat pump.

You can read more about it here, but if it works long-term, this could be a great way to repurpose abandoned coal mines.

CIDER BRAISED POT ROAST WITH CRISPY SAGE BUTTER POTATOES

I have never made a recipe from Half Baked Harvest that wasn’t delicious. I’m so eager to try this pot roast recipe because the roast is cooked in cider and apple butter. I can see how that would be delicious.  Recipe here.

She’s my favorite person to watch cook on Instagram stories because it’s so visceral. It’s all about the food. There’s no chatter and I appreciate that. (That’s funny coming from someone who does her fair share of chattering on IG stories. Ha!)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’… He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature… Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.” – Albert Einstein

Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
