Normally, I wouldn’t totally paint over a wood Easter egg because I like to see the wood grain.
However, I did experiment with using hammered copper paint on a wood egg and love how it turned out. You could easily do this with plastic or styrofoam eggs too.

These wood eggs are stained and not sealed. Aren’t they gorgeous in their simplicity? I used all the same stain color here, but you could also use different colors of stain to achieve some color variation between the eggs.

I have found wood eggs at Target, but I usually order them from Amazon. I’ve ordered these eggs multiple times. I like them because of their size and the fact that they are rounded on the bottom. You can get flat-bottomed eggs that will stand upright, but that’s not what I wanted for these projects.
