    Happy List: #76

Exciting news in my life this week. I got a haircut. To put this another way, I trusted a complete stranger to wield a pair of sharp scissors on the single most identifying part of my anatomy – my unruly hair. Finding a new hair stylist is easy. Trusting that person is hard! In other news, discussion on the Adirondack chair situation is in full swing. Handy Husband invites you all over to help with the build. Oh, and I received a bunch of direct messages about my potluck anxiety when I wrote about the Lemony Pasta Salad on Monday. You guys crack me up and encourage me! Bottom line…we aren’t alone…

    Happy List: #75

Hello, hello and happy Friday! How the heck are you? Livin’ the dream, I hope! This week I shared a funny story about a couch. No, I still don’t have a couch, but I do have a funny follow-up to that story I should probably share with you. I also wrote about leaving Ireland and the factors that played into that decision. I hope it can someday help someone who might be in a similar situation. Now, onto the Happy List. Woohoo! AUSTRALIA Australia has always been on my Travel Bucket List, but this picture bumps it up to the top of the list! I don’t even care if this…

    Happy List: #74

Hello, friends. This week’s blog articles were brought to you by the letter M for what a MESS it is around here moving! On Monday I wrote out my list of funny moving truths and on Wednesday I shared a sneak peek of our new home. Thank you for all your love here and on social media about our new digs. I also registered the kids for school (holy paperwork, Batman!) and got new library cards. Still haven’t switched my driver’s license though. By the way, our library offers a neat service where you can check out museum passes to 5 area museums. Isn’t that a good idea? Here’s the…

    Happy List: #73

It’s June 1, baby! I’m not going to say that thing about this year flying by. I’m not. You can’t make me. On Monday we celebrated Memorial Day and I pondered some thoughts about all that. On Wednesday I shared my tips for visiting Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument in Washington state. My kids have been very into volcanoes since they learned about Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. Pompeii is on our Travel Bucket List now and I have no complaints about that. It’s been interesting to compare and contrast what’s currently happening in Hawaii with eruptions from other volcanoes like Mt. St. Helens. Mother Nature is amazing. She’s also…

Happy List: #72 Memorial Day Weekend Edition

Who’s ready for a 3-day weekend? Me, Me, ME! Doesn’t Memorial Day kick off the beginning of summer too? I’m ALL about summer! This week I whined shared about how I’ve come to terms with embraced back-to-back birthdays for my kiddos. I also shared a gorgeous DIY live edge wood coffee table that I tried to bring home with me on my last visit to my parents’ house. Here’s this week’s Happy List! WALLPAPER ON A CEILING Normally, I’d say if your ceiling has these gorgeous beams, it doesn’t need anything else. I think I’m wrong. This ceiling is so eye-catching with the wallpaper. If you aren’t sure, click over to…

    Happy List: #71

May is FLYING by, isn’t it? This week I shared my tips on visiting one of Ireland’s greatest cultural treasures, the Book of Kells. I also wrote about a recipe that changed my life. Okay, fine. I exaggerate, but only slightly. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I’ve posted some gems recently! It’s ever-changing, but always present – here’s this week’s Happy List! GREY PENNY TILE I’m sure the pictures are out there, but I haven’t seen grey penny tile taking over the universe. Maybe it should? This tile and that door aren’t even the best part of this house by Bria Hammel Interiors! Be sure and check out…

    Happy List: #70

Fancy seeing you here again on arguably the best day of the week – FriYAY! This week I shared a story about a recent trip to the hair salon. It wasn’t an experience I was expecting, but it was one I needed. My kids have been reading a lot of books lately, so I rounded up another list (the 8th!) of ‘what my kids are reading’ if any of you are interested. Of course you are! Here’s the List o’ Happy! BRITISH HATS I grew up in a family where hats were worn by ladies to weddings and funerals. I love the tradition. I love the formality the practice of wearing…

    Happy List: #69

Welcome back and happy Friday! This week I took a design quiz to help me through my style ‘crisis.’ It was very therapeutic. Did you take it? I also shared how to wear your kids out what to do if you only have one day in London with kids. Now, let’s get on to the main event! The Happy List! MARGARITA LIME SHERBET Why do I always think sherbet is sherBERT? That’s embarrassing. I thought this recipe for Margarita Lime Sherbet from Around My Family Table looked good for Cinco de Mayo. You need an ice cream maker though, so if that’s not an option just go out for a…

    Happy List: #68

Hello, everyone! How the heck are you? I hope your week has been fantastic! If you missed it, on Monday I shared how awesome I am at teaching my kids life skills. I hope you read that sentence with the hefty dose of sarcasm that was intended. On Wednesday and without any sarcasm (I think?) I shared what to do and see if you only have one day to spend in Berlin, Germany. It’s not nearly enough time, but we made the most of it! Here is this week’s Happy List! STARS ARE JUST LIKE US I couldn’t love Jennifer Garner more than I do right now. Read the caption.…

    Happy List: #67

We’re ending the week in my part of the world with an Irish HEATWAVE! Seriously, folks. 65 degrees Fahrenheit is about as warm as it gets on this little island – even in the summer. Based on the number of people I’ve seen sunbathing on the beach, I’d say quite a few people called in “sick” to work this week. Sick of winter, if you want to get specific! On Monday I shared my leather wrapped rock paperweight. I’m kind of obsessed with it! Wednesday on the blog was all about two-handle kitchen faucets. They are pretty, but I don’t understand why they are practical. Feel free to weigh in…
