Happy List: #66
Happy Friday the 13th!! I’m back in action after some time off for Easter Break. As much as I enjoy lazy mornings, I am glad to be back to our routine this week. On Monday I shared all the things I learned about kids throwing paint. Oops – what I meant to say was kids creating art with eggshells filled with paint. On Wednesday I shared our trip to an Irish prison museum. You just never know what you’re going to get when you come here, do you? Also, on a housekeeping note, I’ve been organizing my 4 years of blog content. It took me what felt like 10 years…
Happy List: #65 Happy Easter
Hello, hello! Happy Good Friday and early Easter to you! Easter is a huge religious holiday in Ireland, but not as commercial as what I am used to in the U.S. Less commercialism is probably a good thing. This week I shared a recipe that would be delicious to serve for Easter brunch: Blueberry Buckle Coffee Cake. I also wrote about my Easter egg crafting session. The result was a spring feeling in my heart and sheet music eggs on my table! Here’s the Happy List. PHOTO COLORIZATION PROJECT Black and white photos can be hard to related to. I think that’s one reason why it is so fascinating to…
Happy List: #64
Well, hello from the start of my Spring Break! It’s actually called Easter Break in Ireland. My kids have a half day of school today and then TWO WEEKS off. And we don’t have any plans. Should I be worried for my sanity? On Monday I shared a recap of what St. Patrick’s Day is like in Dublin. Then on Wednesday I gave you a glimpse into why I volunteer at school riveting story about my latest rummage sale find. Now let’s get to the good stuff. The Happy List! DOABLE DIY This faux map drawer DIY is awesome! If it looks as good in person as it does in…
Happy List: #63 St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy almost St. Patrick’s Day!! This week because I have a great sense of timing, I shared a decidedly UN-Irish post – my tips for visiting Paris with kids. It was great! Especially that part where I talk about bathrooms. I like to share the important stuff with you guys! I also shared a new recipe I’ve been snacking on lately – Chile Lime Almonds. Also known as “what to do when your husband buys a bag of raw almonds.” Here is this week’s Happy List! EASTER BUNNY NAPKIN If you are hosting Easter dinner, please tell me you’ll fold your napkins like this! (image: Sand and Sisal) This idea…
Happy List: #62
Hello, hello! How’s life treating you? I hope exceptionally well. This week I talked about “surviving” a snowstorm in Ireland, a place that doesn’t get snowstorms. A full week after the storm started and 4 days after the stores reopened, my grocery store was STILL not fully stocked with the basics that it usually sells. It’s back to normal now and it sure does make me thankful. On Wednesday, I shared four of my most favorite St. Patrick’s Day ideas! This year St. Patrick’s Day is on a Saturday, so I’m wondering how crazy is it going to get here in Dublin? Here is what is on the Happy List this…
Happy List: #61
March? Already? I’m afraid I’m going to say something similar at the start of every month, folks. 2018 needs to slow the heck down. Except for that hour every evening when we do homework. That can accelerate at light speed, thank you very much. This week I shared the weird thing I pack when I travel. It’s probably not actually weird, but I write my own sensational headlines. On Wednesday I tapped into my inner resourceful self and created a leather map out of a pair of old boots. Still not over losing my favorite pair of boots though. Here’s what’s on the Happy List this week! SNOW IN IRELAND…
Happy List: #60
Hello, everyone! Thanks for bearing with me on the website changes this week. I can’t think of a good way to segue out of that, so I’ll just use my jazz hands move on. Many people have asked me what it is like to live in Ireland without a car. I think they might really be asking if we are crazy, but that’s fair. On Monday, I shared our experience on this topic. The second question I ALWAYS receive about not having a car is if I’ve forgotten how to drive! In my experience, it’s more or less like riding a bike. So, get out your helmets! Ha! On Wednesday…

Hello, Hello! And welcome back! I hope you had a good Valentine’s week if that’s your thing. My kids have been off school all week, so it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. The good kind though! And in case you were wondering – nope – my dear children do not know how to sleep in when they get a week off from school. On Monday I shared the books the kids and I have been reading together this winter. Then on Wednesday I gave you a little update on the whereabouts of St. Valentine. Well, his earthly remains. As you can see, I like to mix the topics up…

Hello! Fancy meeting you here again! Did you catch my post about the cheese tea? Are you going to try it? I made that tea in my kitchen and on Monday I shared the behind-the-scenes of that swanky place. Kidding – it’s not swanky, but I’m thankful we have it! This week’s Happy List is random – per usual! Consider it a look inside my brain. WEIRD RESERVOIR This is a picture of the Pontsticill Reservoir in Wales by a fantastic photographer, Matt Thomas. It’s actually not weird. You’re looking at a bell-mouth spillway, which releases water from the dam. I love it when an interesting picture prompts me to actually do…

There are people on social media complaining about “47 days of January” and I’m thinking to myself “how did January fly by so fast?” I think I’ll stick with my perception of reality because even if I don’t like it, it will be over quick! This week I shared the mention this blog received in a Buzzfeed article. Thanks for all of your support of this blog and my random ramblings – I appreciate you all so much. On Wednesday I wrote about our experience visiting The Louvre in Paris. It was busy – so busy. However, it was amazing to be in the presence of such masterpieces. Here is…
